The Number One Reason:

John Townsend shared recently that the number one reason prodigals give as to why they came back and are living for God today: praying moms and grandmas and dads too. Let's not lose heart or be discouraged. This is our charge. During this Christmas, let's love them back home.

Quick Guide to Coordinators

In first place, the coordinator must be a person of prayer. The leadership must provide the example, enthusiasm and commitment to prayer.

The coordinator can be one person or a team. The goal is to pass the vision and passion to others to pray for our children (biological, adopted or spiritual) and this generation for 15 minutes/day. Sometimes it is hepful to have a coordinator in a church. As new Deborahs (or Praying Dads) sign up, keep a file for yourself for future correspondence and send the name and address (or e-mail) to Laura Edwards so she can send it to the international coordinator.

Motivate people to join the prayer initiative. Always remembering that this is not a church movement but a Moms-who-pray movement (remembering dads are more than welcome and encouraged as well). The coordinators may even be couples.

Encourage the “Deborahs” in your church or city with e-mails, prayers, or Bible verses as possible. You can (but not required to) promote a meeting of Deborahs monthly or quarterly, for mutual encouragement.

Sometimes if your church already holds “prayer meetings,” the Wake Up Deborah initiative can be added to the requests or brought to the attention of the participants (always with the blessing of the pastor). We don’t need more meetings but can take advantage of the ones we already have by inserting 5 minutes every now and then.

Some coordinators use church bulletins or the church’s website to make the initiative known.

Some begin a Deborah Prayer Chain using the telephone.

Don’t do anything in the church without the blessing of your pastor.
